It has come to my attention that I should explain my choice of “teh.” With tehchad.com, @tehchad25 as well as my facebook holding that, people might think I’m a bit dyslexic and/or special. I assure you that I AM special! But, so far, the doctors haven’t yet diagnosed me as such!

A few years ago, an old friend introduced me to Questionable Content – an evolving webcomic. I’ve never been much for comics, but I got into this one! One of the characters named Martin has this shirt that says, simply, teh.

The reason the word exists is thanks to people who chat online, gamers in particular. You have probably seen the word pwn or pwned. This is a common mistake for own. These people are typing so fast that a few words are misspelled all of the time! Teh is the same, from the.

In 2003, I was teaching rock climbing back east and the film Charlie’s Angels had just come out. Out of that, the famous line came out: “Was it the Chad? No! The Chad was great!” And the nickname just stuck! I guess I’ve been called worse things!

After that, I melded the two and Teh Chad was born.

Friends are very important, as is your family. Many people have different pictures of what family looks like. My own parents divorced many years ago. Out of that, I’ve gained several good people in my life in the form of step-family.

A couple of years ago, I got the feeling that God was getting ready to begin cleaning out my life. He was to begin with the people that fostered bad habits. Over the course of 2011, EVERY SINGLE ONE of the buddies that I used to party with moved away. It was a bit tough as these were some of my best friends.

God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. – PSALM 68:6

One of my goals for 2012 is to simply spend more time with good people. It’s not to the point of ALWAYS saying yes when the opportunity arises, but I’m making it a priority. The verse was one that I received from a gal who sends out daily verses – Kendra Todd – and it was a nice reminder that He will consistently be placing me around people that I NEED (and that need me too.)

The foundation of social media strategy was, in my opinion, best said by Gary Vaynerchuk.

CARE.

That’s it! It’s all you have to do! Show people you care and they will love to be around you, work with you, and give to you.

First step:

LISTEN.

What are those around you needing? desiring? What are they excited about? What is cool about them?

Get on it!
